Born in South Africa, Sharon Katz founded The Peace Train Project in 1992 to help to forge peaceful relationships between people of all races, using musical productions and music therapy as the primary intervention.  Sharon met Nelson Mandela shortly after his release from South African prisons and he blessed her work which has carried her forward for the past 25 years.  During her career Sharon has worked with some of South Africa’s legendary musicians and has toured the US extensively.  She has earned a Grammy nomination, the documentary about her work “When Voices Meet” has earned Best Documentary, Best Original Music Soundtrack and other awards,  and most recently WHYY “On Tour episode about her work and music earned an Emmy nomination and might still be selected for an Emmy.
